Mississippi Delta Council for Farmworkers’s Crossroad Farmers Market partnered with AARP and USDA to encourage and assist our vendors while encouraging customers to use EBT/SNAP. Customers who are SNAP recipients who make purchases of ten dollars will receive an additional ten dollars worth of produce at no out-of-pocket cost—their ten dollars can be doubled in fresh Mississippi Delta-grown produce. The vendor will be reimbursed by Partners.
The innovative partnering program enables our customers to get more fresh produce at no additional cost to them while it provides additional sales income to our producers. Win-win!
Leadership partners include Purvis Green, Director of Farmers Markets, Mississippi Department of Agriculture & Commerce; Ellen Levinson, President of Levinson & Associates; Leah Johnson, Senior Associate, Wholesome Wave; Maggie Biscarr, MSW Program Manager, AARP; Don Green, Executive Director of Mississippi Delta Council for Farmworkers Opportunities, Inc. and Samuel McCray, Manager of Crossroad Farmers Market.
